Phew weekend’s almost here, It’s been a crazy last week with friends visiting, a birthday celebration, and some non-stop sewing. But I can’t wait to tell you all about what I am going to be sharing today – I made a maxi! my first ever!

This is the Talia Fitted Dress* released yesterday by Laela Jeyne Patterns*.  Talia has a fitted bodice with a scoop neck or a soft V neck in the front and a round neck or a deep V in the back. The beautiful fit in the bodice is achieved by bust and waist darts along with an invisible zipper on the side. Can you see my invisible zipper in the pic below? ( I hope not! :))

The Talia Fitted Dressflows into a flattering A line skirt that can be made in tunic, mini, knee length, midi or maxi lengths. Additionally It has some really great hem options like the shark bite hem (tunic and knee length) and the faux wrap (maxi length).

I am not entirely sure of the fabric content of my dress, it feels like rayon challis, frays like chiffon, and has a lovely drape and weight. It is extra special to me ’cause my mom sent it to me from India.

My original plan was to make a shark bite hem tunic which I might or might not have pleaded Marisa to include in the pattern but that drapey floral fabric suckered me into cutting it to maxi length and I couldn’t have been more pleased with it. It makes me look taller than I am doesn’t it? For reference I am almost 5 feet tall (short?)

I lined the bodice completely but left the skirt unlined but the pattern includes pattern pieces and instructions for both partially and fully lined dress.
