The Waterfall Raglan is here! yay!! But wait there’s another reason to celebrate today! Chalk and Notch is celebrating its one year anniversary which means there’s a fantastic giveaway in the end that you do not want to miss 😉 I for one am incredibly honored to have been part of this journey, I have tested all of Gabriela’s fabulous patterns – Fishtail Kimono, Top Knot Romper and Maxi, Cascade Maxi and now the super cute Waterfall Raglan.
I was neck deep in sewing projects when I saw the tester call for the Waterfall Raglan by Chalk and Notch Patterns. If you’ve been here before, you already know what a huge fan I am of Gabriela’s patterns, so I made sure I applied to test this lovely pattern.
The Waterfall Raglan is a relaxed knit top or dress with a gathered ruffle at the hem which gently curves upwards. It has half, 3/4th and full sleeved option along with a small pocket. It comes in sizes 12 months to 12 years and is a really quick sew. You will want to make a dozen of them!
For my short sleeved waterfall raglan top, I used this cotton jersey spandex from Girl Charlee knitfix that I got last year, and used over several projects here, here, here and here 🙂
The instructions as always with Chalk and Notch patterns are impeccable and to the point. Two neckband options are included to get a perfect fit based on your knit stretch percentage. Just pick the pattern piece that corresponds to the stretch percentage of your fabric, and thats it, your neckband will fit like a dream!
Don’t you love that sweet curved hem?
For my long-sleeved dress version, I used a thick quilted knit fabric (from Hobby Lobby) to show off the shape of this pattern. I used a stretchy cotton lycra for the neckband. I love how it stands out showing the A line and the curved ruffle at the hem.
This is our perfect holiday dress! Dress it up with some toasty woollen tights and a cap and we’re ready for a party!
