I am so excited to share the crossover flounce dress by Call Ajaire today. With built-in cap sleeves (or long sleeves) and asymmetric circle flounces, its perfect  for twirling and even more perfect for whipping up in a couple hours. And, there’s something extra fun too! It’s REVERSIBLE! Turn it inside out and its another outfit, I am so excited ’cause this is the first time I’ve sewn anything reversible. I always thought it was like wasting good fabric in place of lining but who knew?!? now i want to make everything reversible, in fact i did! Another flounce dress and another top which I’ll be sharing soon on the blog.

Obviously her ‘frozen’ obsession went a little too far this time, so please overlook all the tattoo madness on her arms 🙂

The fabric used for the bodice is from Coquette by Art Gallery fabrics, and it’s called ‘Innocent charm’. I got this a couple years back from Fabric.com and the skirt is a pin dot chambray that I wish I had gotten more of 😦

When i first saw the line drawings during testing, I thought it would be  complicated than it actually is . The circle skirt attaches cleanly to the bodice, without having to fuss with gathers or worry about even distribution of those gathers. I found the whole design of this pattern both unique and genius.

This darling boat neck dress has no closures in the back, although Ajaire includes an ingenious method to add an elastic button-less keyhole in the back so it can still slip on easily over the head.

The other side – I love the chambray and the white eyelet together but my daughter not surprisingly clearly favors the pink side.

This dress twirls so easily, it’s quite delightful!

I am not even going to try to explain why I made yet another crossover flounce dress but here goes!

The blue stripe is a shirting fabric, and both the outer and inner florals are cotton lawns that my mom sent from India in a recent surprise parcel 🙂

I am not sure how much my daughter understands bout the reversibility of the dress but honestly I’m so thrilled, and every time someone tells me how cute her dress is, I add “its reversible too” lol

Little girls and their fascination with twirling!! this dress was made for that!!

Putting these fabrics together was so much and I am in LOVE with these dresses and for patterns such as this that make sewing so much fun!!
