Hello friends!

I am so excited to share my new project with you today. As you might have already guessed from the title, it’s the Sullivan Dress by Sew Much Ado featuring the Peacock Pavilion Collection by Vikki Chu for Michael Miller Fabrics. From the minute these fabrics arrived at my house, my daughter has constantly been enquiring for updates as to when her peacock dress would be ready,  when she could try it on and when we’d go take pictures. Spoiler Alert: She looooooves her peacock dress, and you can see for yourself what a co-operative model she has been!

It didn’t take long to finalize a pattern for this gorgeous fabric. Since she’s still so much into dresses, and I wanted to use both these fabrics Peacock Park  and Istanbul in one dress, we settled on one of our beloved patterns – The Sullivan dress. I had earlier tested and made two versions of this pattern last year and she wears them around a lot (you can see them here).

This pattern with its simple gathered skirt was perfect for showing off those strutting peacocks so beautifully!

And it has just enough detail in the scalloped bodice overlay to add more interest to the dress. Don’t you love how the domes and towers in the Istanbul fabric add almost like a texture to the fabric? I thought the scallops might highlight those features!

How lucky that the park nearby had purple flowers the exact shade of her dress! So of course we had to include them in the pictures. While the pattern includes a sleeveless option as well, these notched sleeves are my favorite design detail and I was not going to forgo the chance to use as much of this gorgeous fabric as I possibly could. It should be evident in how more of the purple was used to hem the dress 🙂

This fabric was provided to me for being a Sewing Portfolios Ambassador.

This little lady wore her peacock dress again the following day so we were tempted to get a few more pictures 🙂
