So, there was the tiniest scrap of fabric remaining from my very-loved Violet Dress . I figured that if I was going to make my daughter a matching dress from it, I might as well snag the Violet dress for girls pattern * while it’s still on sale right?
Purchased the pattern, printed, assembled and cut one afternoon, and finished sewing and photographing the next day. Since I’d already made the Violet dress * for myself, I breezed through the construction barely having to refer to the instructions.
This really is my favorite picture of the lot! Those straps are just lovely, and the shape of the dress just gorgeous!
This ended up being a bit shorter than intended (I cut between the top length and dress length) because I was working with very minimal fabric yardage. This length is almost similar to my Violet dress, and I really couldn’t love it any more on her!
For the darling little flounce, I did a rolled hem (one of the recommendations for finishing the hem that is included in the pattern). I did not finish the bottom hem, since it’s knit and won’t fray and I didn’t want to shorten the dress further.
The Violet dress & Top for girls* comes in sizes 6m to 12y with good quality instructions, well drafted pattern pieces and neat finishing details that guarantees a professional quality handmade item. I have already professed my love for BSD here and here lol!
Both the girls* and ladies* Violet Top & Dress patterns are now on sale, which ends today! Or you can get both patterns in a bundle here*.
*If you buy the pattern through one of my affiliate links, I get a small percentage of the sale at no additional cost to you and you will help support my blogging adventure. Thank you.
