Another pattern that I was lucky to have gotten the opportunity to test is The Diamond dress and top from Pattern Anthology’s Unbiased Collection. It is a Shwin Designs pattern with a unique diamond shaped bodice, that is so cleverly drafted that the construction comes together quite simply. It has two skirt options – gathered and peplum, short and long sleeve options and of course dress and top option. The pattern also includes one full page of fun line drawings for coloring-in to help you decide fabric placement for color blocking or contrasting.
This is the gathered skirt version with elastic added to the seam allowance (instructions for which are included in the pattern). The pattern also comes with helpful tips and instructions for bust adjustment and for lengthening/shortening the bodice.
The solid green is a cotton jersey from Hancocks and the floral is a rayon jersey knit from a dress I found in the clearance section at Old Navy.
For my next version, I made a peplum top. I wanted it to be more fitted, so I sized down, and shortened the bodice by an inch. I love the fit on this one.
I love this fabric a lot but it was incredibly hard to photograph. Fabric is from Joanns, it is a reversible knit in gold with dots on one side and stripes on the other side.
The diamond dress along with the Adora top ( that I blogged about here ) is one of four patterns in the unbiased collection by Pattern Anthology which is on sale for 40% off ending today. The sale bundle also includes great coupons worth over $250.
