The Rushcutter by In the Folds is an A line dress with two dramatically different styles. View A is a three fourth sleeved raglan dress with large side pockets and an invisible zipper while view B is a sleeveless dress with in-seam pockets and a button closure. Both views have a paneled bodice. For my test, I chose to do view B.

The Rushcutter is a very carefully drafted, detail oriented PDF pattern full of interesting design features and  well- explained instructions. One of the features that I like about this pattern is how many options Emily the designer provides in each style of the dress, not just in terms of design elements but finishing and sewing techniques as well. Two styles of pockets, two styles of closures, sleeve styles, hem finishes and French seams all explained in such detail, that the process of sewing the Rushcutter is truly gratifying.

For this version, I used a linen blend for the bodice and a rayon challis for the body and sash. The rayon challis frays so much, I used French seams to finish all the inside seams, and bias tape for finishing the neckline and armholes, the instructions for which are all included in the pattern.

The dress has such flattering lines and along with the drape of the rayon challis, I like how it looks even without the sash. Next on my sewing to-do list is a three fourth sleeved Rushcutter as part of my winter wardrobe sewing.

I am so glad that I was able to test the Rushcutter pattern, I love the pattern and how well my dress turned out. This is the first PDF pattern by In the Folds, and I find this a very high quality and extremely well drafted pattern with great instructions and pictures. I can’t wait to see more patterns from this designer.
