woohoo second post this week!!!

One of the reasons that makes sewing so exciting for me is also discovering what styles and fashion trends work for my baby girl. Last year, she was still learning to walk and tripped ever so often that I was worried she’d scrape her knees in shorts.

But this year, I’ve been really wanting to make her a cute pair of summer woven shorts. I was lucky to have been able to test the perfect pair of Bubble shorts – Rose Bubble shorts by Bella Sunshine Designs.

With a neat fit, crisp details like the front pleats, pockets that can be accented with a contrast fabric or lace, a cute bubble effect and cuffs at the bottom, these shorts are the perfect summer staple to wear with breezy tops and tunics.

For this pair, I used a cotton poplin (maybe stretch poplin?) that I got from Fine Fabrics Warehouse.

While these pockets are functional enough for her little treasures, I think they add a very pretty detail to the shorts as well. And I prefer these comfortable cuffs to elastic at the bottom.

Bubble shorts on baby legs is such an adorable sight!!!

The pattern goes from size 6m to 12 years, and can be made in bottom weight fabrics like denim, quilting cotton, or cotton poplin.

This is my first time testing for BSD, and I really liked how organized and friendly the testing process was. The pattern is very well drafted, and the sizing accurate, and the instructions extremely clear on how to choose and blend sizes.

The Rose Bubble shorts pattern is currently on sale for $5 (no coupon needed), sale ends july 4.

I don’t usually buy patterns on an impulse but seeing as much as i loved the shorts, they needed a summery top to go with and since I was pleased with the quality of Bella Sunshine designs, I just had to get the Felicity Dress and Top and boy was I pleased!!!

I used an almost sheer embroidered cotton batiste and it is JUST PERFECT!

This entirely lined Felicity dress and top comes with quite a few options –  the front skirt can be gathered or tucked, the back can be fitted with elastic like i did or shirred, theres an optional ruffle at the bottom as well. The tester pictures on here are just swoon worthy!!!
