Hey guys, Today I’m changing tracks a bit from sewing for my kid to sewing for myself 🙂

Woven pants, joggers and palazzos are everywhere these days. I’ve tried a couple from ready to wear stores and even bought a pair in the hopes of being able to alter them to fit me.  Trying to fix issues in fit, rise and length ended up in a mess and I’ve since never actually owned woven pants, other than pajama pants of course.

When Marisa from Laela Jeyne Patterns said she was going to be drafting joggers, I got all excited ’cause I know she drafts for shorter women and I don’t usually have to make a lot of adjustments to get the right fit for me.

Dani Woven Joggers by Laela Jeyne Patterns are comfortable slim fitted joggers with pockets that can be made in shorts, capris or ankle length (aff). The shorts have a curved hem which is finished in bias tape, and the capris and ankle length joggers have an elastic at the hem. Instructions to add a decorative drawstring to the wide elasticized waist are included. The pattern also includes instructions to add a knit fabric waistband.

I used rayon challis with a great drape (from Fine Fabrics warehouse) and made a few fit adjustments to reduce the rise, the length and added shirring at the ankles.

Fabric choice is important while making up this pattern, it is important to use a fairly thin fabric with good drape to get the right look or they might end up looking like comfy PJ pants.

This pattern comes in sixes XXS – 3X, is a trimless pattern and has options to print in both US and A4 paper sizes. It also includes a print shop copy file to print on A0 size. Instructions for fit adjustments, blending sizes and adjusting length are included.

You can find more details and loads of tester pictures for inspiration here (aff).

The Dani Joggers PDF Pattern is currently on sale for $6.97 till July 5th after which it will return to its regular price of $9.95. Also, all of Laela Jeyne Patterns are marked down for 30% off sale now until July 5th.

Here’s some of my reviews of the Samantha and Sammy Swing dressPenelope Pleated Camisole and the Emily T-shirt,  all of which would make great racerback tanks, camis or tops to go with your Dani Joggers.

  1. Indu, these look great on you! I’m totally bummed I missed the test but will definitely be needing to tack them. I have never made myself pants. I’ve done shorts, but never pants!

    1. Thank you Cassie, my first time making pants too and i like how they turned out 🙂 I’d say this pattern would be a good start, especially while dealing with fit adjustments.
